Course Description:  Anthropology 235 provides a survey of basic archaeological theories, methods, and practices including the ways in which data are recognized, recovered, analyzed, interpreted, and presented by archaeologists.  Primarily targeting majors and minors in Anthropology and closely related disciplines, this course explores the current state of archaeological studies, in part by examining their historical roots.  Case studies from around the world are employed to examine the ways in which archaeological methods and theories are put into practice.  While there is no formal prerequisite for this course, it is recommended that students successfully complete a 100-level introductory archaeology course prior to enrolling in ANTH 235 .
